And while soy has been touted as a "health food," there are actually some pretty good reasons to think twice before eating it. Here's why you should think twice before eating soy: 1. Soy is a common allergen. 2. Soy contains phytoestrogens, which can disrupt hormone balance. 3. Soy is often GMO. 4. Soy can inhibit absorption of other nutrients. 5. Soy might contribute to thyroid problems. 1. Soy is a common allergen. Soy is one of the top eight allergens, and according to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, soy allergies are on the rise. Symptoms of a soy allergy can range from mild (rash, hives, itching) to severe (trouble breathing, swelling of the throat). 2. Soy contains phytoestrogens, which can disrupt hormone balance. Soy contains compounds called phytoestrogens, which mimic the hormone estrogen in the body. Too much estrogen can lead to a whole host of problems, including endometriosis, infertility, and breast cancer. 3. Soy is often GMO. Unless you're buying organic soy, it's likely that the soy you're eating is genetically modified. GMO crops are engineered to withstand herbicides like Roundup, which means they're loaded with toxins that can be harmful to your health. 4. Soy can inhibit absorption of other nutrients. Soy contains compounds called phytates, which can bind to minerals like calcium, iron, and zinc, making them unavailable for absorption. This can lead to deficiencies in these important nutrients. 5. Soy might contribute to thyroid problems. Soy contains goitrogens, which can interfere with the production of thyroid hormones. This can lead to problems like hypothyroidism and goiters. So there you have it! Five good reasons to think twice before eating soy. Of course, you don't have to give it up entirely, but moderation is key. When it comes to soy, less is definitely more.

If you're trying to conceive, you might want to avoid soy. Soy is a common ingredient in many foods, but it's also a source of controversy. Some people claim that soy can have negative health effects, including fertility issues. There's no definitive answer, but there is some evidence that soy might indeed affect fertility. For example, one study found that women who ate the most soy were more likely to have difficulty getting pregnant. Of course, this doesn't mean that soy is definitely bad for fertility. It's possible that the women in the study were already at higher risk for fertility problems. And, as with any study, this one has its limitations. Still, if you're trying to get pregnant, you might want to limit your soy intake. There's no harm in doing so, and it might just increase your chances of conceiving.
